Thank you to the organisers of SWAMP in Bristol to have myself and my demo bunny down to give a demo on nipple play. This is the info sheet with what I spoke about, along with some of the items that I had on display. If an item is not spoken about here, have a look on my ramblings blog to see if it has its own page there.

Introduction

intro

This contains information on the implements that I brought to the demo with me as well as the health and safety implications of nipple play from my point of view along with various ways that I find effective. From new and low budget up to advanced and higher budgets.  There may be people that disagree with what I say or do, but I have always practised a safe and sane sense of play. I consider what I do to be as safe and as well thought out to the best of my knowledge. It is worth noting that I do not know everything about everything. By all means, do your own research and use my information as a guide to help you make informed decisions.

My information is written based on the assumption of Cis Male and Cis female nipples whenever I mention the gender I'm referring to. This is to make my text easier to type and for a smoother flow of information.          I mean no intention of any offence should any be taken.

It is always best to do your own research how-ever I hope you find my experiences useful to your play.

Women Health

women

fig.2

The general anatomy of a female breast looks a lot like this in fig.2.  The breast is the most obvious difference compared to male counter parts as well as what they contain internally, though most are not visible to the exterior.  The breast has support help by suspensory ligaments throughout the breast area helping keep them uplifted rather than drooping. This is often something that women are not aware of. Google it and have a look.

There are then the milk ducts and lobes for producing and issuing breast milk.  The nipple itself is connected to many little tubes and the area around it is called the areola.

Why do I need to know this?

For play involving physical trauma such as pulling, tugging, clamps, piercings, weights etc...You need to know if the woman involved with nipple or breast play is either intending to breast feed or if she has implants or has had any other surgical modifications. It is not impolite to ask for safety reasons with a simple;

"May I please enquire if there are any surgical modifications I need to be aware of to help me avoid any possible injury."

A note on surgical breast implants. Personally I would avoid any breast or nipple 'heavy' impact or 'excessive' ties to avoid damaging the implant.  Some people have their nipples moved during surgery too. It is recommended to ensure that the area is fully healed to ensure that the body has fully recovered and tearing damage possibilities are going to be kept to a minimal.

Breast Feeding ?

Anything which can cause trauma to the nipples can potentially damage the milk ducts and effect breast feeding.  Even though the nipples are durable; excessive long use of crushing with strong clamps, piercing, cutting or excessive heat can cause internal damage.  Pinching, clothes pegs and light clamp use is very unlikely going to cause an issue for you, but try to avoid anything heavy duty.

Adding heavy weights can also damage and loosen the ligaments holding the breast in place. When the breast fills with milk considerable weight is added.  If these ligaments have already been weakened with heavy weights on the nipples or breast impact with solid objects, it could run a risk of breasts sagging further during pregnancy and breast feeding.

Sensation play is an all rounder than can be done at any time.  Please go to the general play section to read on this.

It is worth knowing that a female nipple is less sensitive than a male nipple.

This is due to the nerve endings on a female being spread out over a larger area than it is with males. This helps with infant chewing but it also means that a female nipple can take a high pain threshold... in theory. Depending on the individual.

Men Health

men
anatomy-of-male-breast.jpg
fig.3

The main obvious difference when compared to a woman is the absence of a larger breast and breast feeding functions. see Fig.3.  Men's nipples are MORE sensitive than a woman's.  This is due to the surface area of the nerve endings being much closer together.  Since this is the case the Erogenous zone has a great effect on men within a quicker space of time.

Due to the extra muscle area, male nipples; 'in my past experience within my professional sessions',  can take a large amount of weight and abuse.  Once the subject gains endorphins to cope with the nipple play on heavier sessions, the sensations are seen to be much greater and also last longer if sensation stops briefly and then continues.

Since the male nipple area is mostly fatty tissue, they are open to a wider range of sensation and heavier forms of play with little worry of damaging anything long term unlike with women. Apart from pride and ego, that stuff goes out the window with a heavy duty clamp or 16 gauge needle regardless of manliness.

It is worth noting though that the right side of the male breast area contains a larger quantity of nerves and blood supply along with the upper arch area which connects to the arms.

Why do I need to know this?

For play involving physical trauma such as pulling, tugging, clamps, piercings, weights etc...You need to know if the male involved with nipple or breast play has implants or had any surgical modifications. (Yes men can have added parts or surgery to have tissue remove), such as transgender or for medical reasons.

It is not impolite to ask for safety reasons with a simple;

It is recommended to ensure that it is fully healed to ensure the body has fully recovered and tearing damage possibilities are going to be kept to a minimal.

General Nipple Play

general

Adding a blind fold and ear protection to reduce sound along with sight, this heightens senses and makes nipples more sensitive.  Anything from blowing, to finger nails and tooth brushes are all really easy and simple to use sensation ideas.

If there is no intention to breast feed in the future, surgery free and your nipples are looking for fun, the level of play for the individual is completely down to their choice and limits. How-ever you need to be aware of the long term issues of certain types of play which you may gain. You need to use your own judgment and weigh up risk along with personal safety whilst considering levels of risk.

Try to avoid cutting or breaking the skin of the nipple.  This opens you up more to causes of infection due to the rubbing on clothing, heat and sweat that nipples deal with on a daily bases.  Any pinching, pulling and clamps will reopen any wounds which are not completely healed. This is a big issue for post operation play in particular.  The areola around the nipple on a woman can be pierced and poked with sharp stuff such as needles for the same effect as if it was the nipple. But with this you don't potentially cause damage to milk ducts.

Alcohol hand gel?

Avoid cleaning your nipples and nipple toys with anything alcohol based, particularly if there are any abrasion or cuts.  Nipples do not like alcohol.  It dries them out, cracks the skin and causes general discomfort. It is worth noting that a females nipples can easily absorb infection, (as can pierced nipples in general), therefore ensure that you have clean hands when handling nipples.  I personally wear nitrile gloves with unfamiliar play partner scenes or use a non alcohol hand wash for skin to skin such as Clinell.

Keeping nipples supple.

To help keep your nipples supple and better enabled to take physical trauma such as pinching, pulling or clamps. Keep them moisturised on a regular basis. Do not use this a few hours before play otherwise your toys may slip off if you intend to use clamps.  Do however use it after each play session to help the skin heal and stop it from drying out. Bio oil is a good one or coconut based body lotions. If you have a nut allergy then use alternative products.  Use what you consider best for your body.  I would also keep some gauze and skin medical tape to place over the nipples after a heavy play session to avoid rubbing on clothing for a few hours. Unless you want this discomfort effect of course.

If you are going to pierce the nipple directly, please do your own research for the best form of aftercare and consider any long term implications such as possible tares if you pull pierced nipples and the possibility of loss of sensation.  There is also the risk of infection as with all piercings along with the damage to milk ducts in women. As I mentioned above the areola is less risk to pierce for the same effect.

Warm up first !

With all aspects of play, you should consider warming up with light sensation and two finger rubbing motions around the nipple. Use a little bit of light hand cream to help your fingers along.  Warm ups get the nipple erect and start to get your play partner in the mood which releases erotic chemicals in the body. A warmed up nipple can handle more than a cold start.  Work your way up from light tickling to perhaps weak clothes pegs, little flicks and small tugs.  Progress as far within the limits that the nipple wearer has given you the go a head with, and just take your time. Don't be afraid to say no that's enough or yes please more.  Of course If you want to be a bastard with a masochist... Then jump straight in with a manic laugh.

With weights; start very slow, such as just the weight of the chain on the clamps.  Adding small weights such as home made ones containing blocks of ice that you have added a hook to prior to freezing.  This also doubles as a cold sensation play item at the same time wetting the nipples and cooling them after a good tugging or clamping.  Heavier weights can be cheaply obtained online such as fishing weights.  They come lead free these days but are prettier painted. Lead based ones you certainly want to paint whilst wearing gloves before you use them.

You can have a bit of fun with bells, you can have your nipple wearer do tasks and avoid ringing the bell or just walk around jingling away.

A lot of toys can be made at home, found cheaply around the shops or medium to advanced users could throw a few more pounds into some heavier duty toys such as e-stim or nipple stretching items. Below are some ideas which I took to the demo.
